Training on communication and advocacy

Training on communication and advocacy

The volunteer will be in charge of supporting DPA’s team in developing and implementing their communication and advocacy strategy.

Description

Objectifs

In the rural northeast regions of Cambodia, support for isolated communities whose livelihoods rely on natural resources, such as forests, is limited. Nevertheless, it is crucial to provide assistance for the sustainable development of these communities to ensure the preservation of Cambodia’s rich biodiversity.
The Development and Partnership in Action (DPA) works to empower and support impoverished and vulnerable individuals, enhance community resilience, foster engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and advocate for an enabling environment for sustainable development. For instance, DPA assists local communities in the management of natural resources. Today, DPA is supported by European donors from Germany, Belgium, Spain, Scotland, France, Canada, the EU, and the Netherlands. However, with the context of the war in Ukraine, the Gaza situation, and the impact of the tariff war, there is huge pressure on these countries and their funding agencies. Thus, international donors and funding agencies have indicated that they are affected by the current situation, with may be a projected 25% decrease in funding due to this context. DPA is currently writing proposals and working to reach out for new opportunities. Therefore, to enhance their visibility to donors and improve their image during these challenging times, DPA aims at strengthening its communication, visibility, and advocacy efforts. It is essential to mobilize volunteers to enhance the skills of the communication officer and team members, including the director.

Intervention attendue du volontaire

The volunteer intervention should encompass the following topics: · -Analyzing the communication policy drafted by DPA;

-Training DPA and providing support to the team in implementing the communication policy.
-Enhancing the organization’s practices on these issues by producing, whenever possible, deliverables that support the organization’s communication efforts.
