Business Plan Training

The volunteer will be in charge of designing and implementing a training on business plan for Agrisud and the Green Farmers association teams.

In Cambodia, agriculture employs 50% of the active population and represents 21% of GDP. However, the country’s food and nutritional security is far from being achieved. In Siem Reap, the main touristic region of the country, farmers are struggling to meet the growing consumer demand for healthy and safe products throughout the year.

Agrisud is a French NGO working with local farmers to train them to the principles of agroecology and connect them with the market.
In order to promote the farmers’ products and facilitate their access to the market, producers created a local association named ‘Green Farmers Siem Reap’ (GFSR).

The farmers are facing financial issues due to the Covid-19’s crisis and there is a need to improve the sales of the association to support them.
However, due to the legal constraints linked with association status, the GFSR is willing to start the transition into a social enterprise to be able to adopt a long-term strategy and have access to entrepreneur funding.

In order to diversify local agriculture and create short circuits, Agrisud and GFSR teams need to benefit from training in finalizing a business plan for its future social enterprise.
Recourse to the support of Planète Urgence volunteers is important because Agrisud’s staff is specialized in agriculture, and the team does not have the knowledge needed to support the GFSR in all the components of this transition, including the design of the business plan.

Providing a technical support for the designing of the business plan, this second volunteer intervention must cover those topics:
• Monitoring of monthly reporting and forecasting process using Income, Cash-Flow and Balance-Sheet Excel templates on which GFSR staff was trained over the first mission completed in March 2023.
-Evaluation of yearly staff costs to fill all staff positions identified as critical for the transfer of GFSR’s Fresh and Processed Food business from the current legal form of association to a corporation.
-Assessment of minimum levels of Sales and Gross Margin to be achieved for GFSR’s Fresh and Processed Food business to be financially sustainable.

Hours of training: The local staff will be available 3 to 4 hours a day on average in the afternoons as they usually are on the field in the mornings (from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.)

Field trips can also be arranged for the volunteer to better understand the project.
