Strengthening local civil society organisations working to protect the environment

This lack of support limits their impact on environmental protection and community resilience. The RACINE project aims to strengthen the capacities of local CSOs by following three key principles: non-competition, co-construction and long-term sustainability. This capacity building enables communities to better understand and anticipate the effects of climate change, adopt resilient agricultural practices, diversify their sources of income and improve their access to adaptation funding. By strengthening local dynamics, the RACINE project contributes to empowering communities and preserving ecosystems, helping to secure a more sustainable future for generations to come.

“The RACINE project offers a genuine model for a development process based on synergies between stakeholders who are firmly committed to protecting the global environment in a context of ongoing challenges. Its structure is innovative because the stakeholders themselves are at the heart of their own development, through the assessment and prioritisation of their identified needs. Putting their skills into practice through sub-granting will enable each CSO to assess its own capabilities. This is an innovative approach compared with previous capacity-building practices in Cameroon.
