Training on fundraising

Planète Urgence Indonesia and their local partner lack of knowledge about fundraising whereas fundraising is a key component to ensure the sustainability of their projects. This mission aims at improving the Planète Urgence’s team and local partners’ capacities on fundraising.

Description

Objectifs

Planète Urgence Indonesia is working with local NGOs for the implementation of various projects. They have knowledge and technical skills which are needed for the implementation and sustainability impact of their projects. However, they are aware that they lack of knowledge and skills on fundraising. While, fundraising is a key factor to ensure not only the sustainability of the project but also the existence of the organization. In addition, Planete Urgence Indonesia or as the legal foundation namely YPUI is the entity in Indonesia which has a legal opportunity to access domestic funds but they lack of knowledge on fundraising as well.

With the emerging issue of climate change and sustainable development, Indonesia government through BPDLH (Badan Pengelola Dana Linkungan Hidup or Indonesia Environment Fund) and other potential international and domestic donors, offer new opportunities for local NGOs to access to sustainable development grants and donors.

In addition to that, training on fundraising will be needed also by our local partner, namely Pokja Pesisir. Since they became PU’s partner in 2022, they keep encouraging them to find other fundings. As a local NGO who has a strong capacity in environment advocacy, they have lots of opportunities to get local fundings.

It’s been long time since they have planned to follow this kind of training, but the high cost to hire a trainer is a problem. Therefore, this mission will help Planete Urgence Indonesia and its partner to improve their capacities in this field.

The specific objective is to improve the understanding and skills of Planete Urgence Indonesia and Pokja Pesisir on fundraising aspects.

More precisely, this mission will focus on:
1. Understanding fundraising aspects why it is important and how should NGOs address this in the organization.
2. Understanding fundraising methodology (plus and minus of each methodology) and capacity that needed for each methodology.
3. Understanding general step to write/build proposal for funding
