Created in 2006, our national delegation in Madagascar is now based in Antananarivo and has operational offices in Antsohy, Moramanga, Miarinarivo and Arivonimamo. Madagascar is the 5th largest island in the world and boasts exceptional biodiversity, most of which is endemic and now under serious threat. To meet this challenge, the national delegation, led by Romain Cogne and comprising 50 employees, is working with our local partners, in particular through the deployment of our volunteer schemes, but also within four projects, DIABE and TAPIA in the Itasy region, MOSOTRY in the Sofia region, and Plan\u00e8te \u00c9ducation.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Plan\u00e8te Urgence wanted to gain a better understanding of the priorities for forest intervention in Madagascar. The NGO therefore worked with the CIFOR-ICRAF network of researchers to cross-reference all the data on deforestation, climate change and biodiversity with data linked to the precariousness of communities via the CIFOR-ICRAF \u2018Resilient Landscapes\u2019 team. A goldmine for putting our energies to work for the benefit of living things.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Plan\u00e8te Urgence consolidates projects supported and implemented by local partners. The association’s action responds to the needs and supports the autonomy of its partners. Plan\u00e8te Urgence’s Madagascan national delegation identifies the needs of its partners, enabling a relationship based on proximity and trust.<\/p>\n

To be effective, the missions are prepared in advance, supervised on site and evaluated when the volunteers return. The process of analysing and evaluating the quality and relevance of the assignments is carried out in real time, enabling us to capitalise on best practice and take into account areas for improvement if necessary.<\/p>\n

Since 2000, more than 10,000 volunteers have left for all the countries where the association is active. Get involved in capacity building!<\/p>\n
