Our mission

Planète Urgence is an official NGO created in 2000 and with registered charity status.

We work to develop international solidarity in order to support local populations, meet their stated needs and foster their autonomy.

As such, Planète Urgence operates in three areas:

Our action levers

These three missions are at the heart of each of the actions we undertake. To achieve our goals, we activate two different types of levers.

Through 4 volunteering devices, volontariat (Congé Solidaire®, Solidarity Mission, Civic Service and International Solidarity Volunteering), Planète Urgence enables people to respond to requests from local organizations by going on short- or long-term assignments. These missions are part of long-term objectives and meet local needs clearly identified in advance with our Operations division and our partners on site.

Environment Preservation
& Development support

In direct link with our local partners, we design projects of environment preservation to fight against deforestation and, more broadly, the destruction of ecosystems. We combine these actions of reforestation to the raise of environmental awareness and to the economic development of local populations for a sustainable and common management of natural resources.

Our work

  • Non competition

In order to avoid destabilising the local economy, our work must not compete with local providers if they can supply a similar service at a price the recipients can afford.

  • Non substitution

The association does not take the place of the project’s stakeholders. Volunteers provide one-off assistance and are there to reinforce existing dynamics.

  • Non lead

The projects are set up and led by our partners on the ground. Planète Urgence will never be the project lead.

  • Longevity

Our association carries out sustainable initiatives enabling the recipients to become autonomous.

  • Joint construction

Our association works closely with our local partners to implement solutions using a participatory method.

  • Safety

Safety is a key concern for our association. We have implemented a strict safety protocol.
